Our hospitality team, which included residents, staff and volunteers, graciously hosted over 240 guests at the Dream Centre’s 2nd Annual Mother’s Day Buffet on May 14th. Our chefs, Bill and Lyle served a delectable buffet which included dressed salmon, turkey, and glazed ham. And if that wasn’t enough…the dessert spread boasted Chef Lyle’s famous apple pie with graham cracker crust, squares and fruit trays. Guests were greeted by Marlies, one of our valued volunteers and a hair stylist in our Destiny Design Hair Studio located on the Dream Centre’s main level. Mom’s were presented with chocolate covered strawberries and a gift, a very special limited edition bookmark which featured the true story of a Dream Centre resident, whose Mom’s prayers were significant in bringing him out of a very dark time. Tyrone, our Education Coordinator noted, “I was really proud of the guys and the way that they presented themselves from greeting at the door, to being escorted to our table, to service at the buffet and clean up. Everyone presented themselves in a professional way and I felt honoured to be a part of the Dream Centre Team.” The Sunday Buffet has been a weekly event since Spring 2005. Papa John's Pizza graciously donated pizza to be sold as a fundraiser to The Calgary Dream Centre and the Olympic Oval Cycling Club. It was a great opportunity for our volunteers, many of whom were CDC residents, to make new friends, learn to work as a team and attempt some serious pizza sampling!
